Remember “Going to”?

Stu says in that lesson      “I’m going to get a tattoo.”

Well, what about when he says in this video “I’m getting a tattoo.”

What’s the difference between these two sentences?

I’m = Present
Going to = Present continuous
Getting (in this case) = Present continuous
Both sentences have future meaning

So

Both sentences are the same. Present continuous for future meaning
If all the people in the conversation understand that they are talking about
the future, we can use simply “I’m buying a book.” or “I’m getting a tattoo.”
